Has anyone seen the Horstman puller for the HDC Yamaha clutch? Do you have to take the clutch apart to remove it using this puller? Maybe I am looking at wrong.... any advice would be great. Dale

You have to take the frontplate(part with the springs and weights) off, then screw the screws from the puller in where the frontplate was screwed in. Then I clamp the body of the puller with a vice grip wrench, then turn the end over with a wrench til it pops off. My favorite part about this is that you can change or sand the disks without having to pull the entire clutch.

Hey Quinn, does the puller fit between the counter weights or do I have to take the springs off and and re-adjust everything after assembly. I switched from the DXL to the dry clutch this year and dont want to spend a lot of time between races messing with this set up. Let me know, Thanks, Dale

No, it doesnt change anything, just unscrew the allen screws and the whole frontpiece comes off. Those clutches are so awesome, it took the whole clutch factor out of the racing equation for me(Ive always sucked at working on clutches!- just ask Norwood). Assuming you have the 2 disk version, the engagement should stay the same pretty much all year, and you should only have to replace the disks twice. They should be pretty close for engagement out of the box. Also make sure you have the extra strong driver if you are running the 10tooth, the stock old ones will break after 4-5 race days. Ask Mark or call horstman to see if they have any of the newer stronger sprockets. Have fun

Quinn, I see by your postings the signature #0 Yamaha pipe Hvy. I am glad to see someone running pipe again. I sure miss the 'good old days'

They are supposed to be in a box I just got from Horstman yesterday. Give me a call at the shop. I should get all that stuff unpacked today.

Hey hold on there!! Where is this running a pipe happining at? I Rember the first time I ran my Bro's Yamaha pipe at Rosemont and Mark and I were running First and second the whole race. (Yes he did win but he did have to pass me.) That was way cool, lots of power off the corner and smoking fast. With the clutch maintainence the dry clutches need why not run a pipe and get 5 more HP? Sorry bout the rambling on... I been working 16 hour days for a week to get ready for this weekend. I lit up the shifter and the Animal tonight for the first time and I inhahed too much carbon monoxide so I am kind of woozy. I should be ok on Friday. SEE YA!!
