My youngest will race jr sportsman this year as a rookie. I was told of a concept that I should use the gear size to keep rpms up so that he will learn to drive smoother. what?

Not sure about that. You might want to keep the rpm's down so a smoother course will generate better lap times. But not so low you are constantly 'on' the clutch, that would be expensive. Mark

Hi Mark, you can't get "on" the clutch much with the liitle guys except for off the line. A good gear is around an 80. Slip the clutch low. See you at the track.

Todd: Mark Mitchell is correct, 80 gear with a 10 tooth front driver is a good place to start. Set the clutch at about 7400 rpm. LT mini cluthes work well. Then work on getting threw turns 2 and 14. these two turns are the critical turns at the track. Check what tire Mark is running on Johns kart , we ran Vega blues but I am sure some guys are running Vega whites. There are a few other things that you will have to learn as you go, Dont be afraid to ask questions. Mark E. and Mark M. are great guys they will set you on the right path. The main thing is get plenty of track time, be patient and have fun with your son. Gordy Team 91 P.S. Mark Mitchell if you read this HI and say HI to John . Hope we can come out and see you guys again.

You might want to practise the track backwards as rumor has it the first weekend of racing will be in that direction. Mark
