I'm just going to keep starting threads and see if anyone besides Mark reads this board I need a gauge, It seems like Mychrons are more popular, but alphanos a bit cheaper (especially used). Will they work equally well with the timing system at SKC? (or are we calling it SMP now?). Does the track provide the beacon on practice days or does someone have to put their own out there? There are no magnetic strips in the pavement are there? Is there a beacon out there on race days? Glen

Glen There is a beacon at the track but not usually out for practice unless you ask. You should be able to get an Alphano to 'see' a Mychron beacon, there is no magnetic strip at this time. The beacon is out on race days though sometimes in the rush of the morning they forget to get it out in time for the first group of practices. And yes, it is now the Stockholm Motorsports Park. And I also wish someone other than you and I were using this board. The old one was well 'traveled' but it seems this one is floundering. Mark

8-)I am also curious about the data acquisition issue as I have an opportunity to purchase a Digitron for a good price. Are we allowed to set up our own transmitters during practice for split times and/or lap times? John "NightHawk" Vaughan Vaughan Motorsport

Well since it looks like the Mychron4 will be coming out in about a month, I think I will either be getting one of those, or a cheap Mychron3 from someone upgrading to a Mychron4. Mark will you be able to offer the Mychron4?

Glen:
WE us both Alfano and Micron. Both work really well. Micron seems to be a little more user friendly and most all tracks are using Micron beacons. Alfano's work really well with the Micron beacons, they also have a nice feature with magnetic strip sensors, but unfortunately people are building new tracks without the magnetic strips witch is stupid. If you don't need alot of data feedback, Micron 3 is probably the best unit for the money. Gordy - JBracing

;D Hi All,
Just a heads up on this topic. The My-Chron 4 is out and will be shipping the last week of Feb. There is only the one basic unit with a seperate ebox that is used for expansion, i.e. adding another temp, g-load, speed or whatever you need. I was not able to find out about track mapping and split times but the unit does look good and is priced about the same as a My-Chron 3 Basic. I have no figures for the add-on's but I am sure they will be released shortly. I guess you will need to contact Mark at RLR for price and dates of arrival. Looks like the answer for me. ;D

Mark,
I ordered a Mychron4 at the open house today, you didn't ask what temp lead I wanted, and I didn't think of it until the ride home. One lead is included, correct? Make mine an EGT. Unless you would try to convince me that CHT is more important on my easykart. Thanks.

Nope. Go with the EGT, much better tuning. Mark
